Me teaching my son how to skateboard

Background

I joined Vungle in 2011 as its second employee and first creative hire. At the time, Vungle was a small team operating in what we called the Wild West of in-app video advertising. I didn't have an official job description, and the autonomy suited me, which is something I still thrive on today.

Over the next fifteen years, among creatives for hundreds of game, app and brand customers, I turned the Vungle creative team into Vungle Creative Labs, an industry-defining organisation; I have patent for dynamic in-app ad creation; I led a global public health campaign that reached 87 million people during a pandemic, and eventually became a Senior Director role leading the platform rebuilding how ads are made using generative AI. The company went through the Blackstone acquisition in 2019 and a merger with Liftoff two years later. For me, the constant across this period was the same: build things that did not exist yet, lead people who cared about doing things properly, and make sure the conditions were right for them to do their best work.

I live just north of London with my wife and two children, renovating a period property and garden that keeps me busy. I run as a mental filing system, I DJ on my Technics 1210s when I get the chance, skateboarding is a deep love of mine, and have thoroughly enjoyed teaching my son the basics on a board. I spent six months travelling across South America - a few moments can be seen below - with my wife in 2018 and 2019, which changed how I think about a lot of things.

By nature I am an introvert who has learned how to be useful in different rooms, I don't need to be the centre of attention and I am someone who has always found the overlap between people, creativity and systems more interesting than either one in isolation.
